Professor Layton on Amazon

I have noticed over the last few weeks that online retailers seems to be charging inflated prices for Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the Nintendo DS but this is just ridiculous!

Professor Layton

According to what Google has cached this game was previously selling for £24.99 on play.com. I recently bought a Nintendo DS for Caterina and it would have been nice to pick up this game in time for Christmas but I think I will wait until its available in the shops again.

WiiWare

It is a couple of weeks since the launch of WiiWare on the Nintendo Wii and we downloaded LostWinds and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. I was greatly impressed with LostWinds with its charming characters and gorgeous visuals. You control young child Toku who along with wind spirit Enril sets out to save their home island of Mistralis from evil spirit Balasar. Toku is controlled by use of the control stick on the nun-chuck while Enril is used by moving the Wii remote, the two combined allow you to blow the protagonist from deep caves to the highest point on the island. Ultimately the game is rather short, taking little over three hours to complete, but beautifully paced with new abilities handed out and utilised to find new secrets in areas which previously seemed fully explored. I will eagerly await the promised sequel.

Caterina has been playing Final Fantasy which appears to be fun although somewhat repetitive. Also the pushing of paid for “add ons” which, as far as I can tell, amount to no more than the ability to build larger houses et cetera is somewhat cheeky in my opinion.

Over all WiiWare is a welcome addition to the Wii Shop, hopefully the next few months will see more of the promised “indie” games facilitated by the easy deployment the medium offers.
